Suffering from Seasonal Allergies?

With it nearing spring time, I’m having a lot of conversations in my office about seasonal allergies. Many parents are noticing their Kleenex supply decreasing as their kids and themselves are needing them more!

Allergies are very common and seem to increase as we change seasons –why is that?

Yes, the snow is melting and pollen production is increasing but why is it that one person suffers from allergies and another person in the same neighborhood or even in the same house doesn’t?! If you’re breathing the same air, shouldn’t you have the same reaction to that air? Not necessarily, there is one thing that is completely different and unique to each person –your personal immune system!

Even though you are in the same external environment, your internal environment may be completely different and that’s why you each have unique responses. It’s not the environment that is to blame for allergies but how your body is adapting or reacting to that environment!

Here’s the really amazing part –you can control how well your body is adapting to its environment.

How? By making sure that your nervous system, which controls and coordinates all the other systems of the body, including your immune system, is functioning properly! When your nervous system is working the way it should be, your body will be able to adapt to its environment and it won’t need to orchestrate an immune response for the seasonal changes we are experiencing. Also, if your nerves controlling your sinuses aren’t working optimally, they have a hard time draining fully which leads to congestion and sinus headaches. We should be rejoicing that spring is here, not suffering with allergies.

The best thing you can do for your allergies is making sure your internal environment can get along with your external environment. We are honored to help you enjoy all your outdoor activities this spring at Peak Potential Family Chiropractic!
